The tiny one, at a historic anchor. Tiki Fever bills itself as the most intimate tiki weekender going — a couple hundred people taking over the restored 1950s Golden Host Resort on Sarasota's North Trail, whose lounge is the Bahi Hut: Florida's oldest tiki bar, pouring since 1954. This is Gulf-coast Florida, a different world from The Hukilau's Fort Lauderdale — and the chart reaches up the coast to the great lost sites of Tampa Bay, including the county parking lot that still, incredibly, bears the name Tiki Gardens.

The Gulf Coast Crawl

Sarasota tiki spans seventy years in two stops. The Bahi Hut is the host and the whole point — Florida's oldest tiki bar, 1954, its Mai Tai unchanged and famously strong. For the modern counterpoint, drive 25 minutes east to Maya Speaktiki, a false-cabinet-door speakeasy in Lakewood Ranch.

The Tampa Bay Ghost Run

The great losses are up the coast toward Tampa. Tiki Gardens in Indian Shores drew half a million a year to its Adventure Trail — now a county lot that still bears the name — and Tampa's Hawaiian Village was a 246-room Polynesian complex with a flaming moai. An hour or two north of the host resort; make a day of it.

Know Before You Go

First-timer intel
It's genuinely tiny
Tiki Fever caps at a few hundred people by design — the pitch is intimacy, not spectacle. Passes and the on-site room block go fast precisely because there aren't many. Book early or not at all.
The Bahi Hut is the reason
You're drinking in Florida's oldest tiki bar, essentially unchanged since 1954. The Bahi Mai Tai is small, strong, and not to be underestimated — pace yourself accordingly.
This is the Gulf coast, not Miami
Sarasota is a different Florida from The Hukilau's Atlantic side — quieter, older, west-facing sunsets. Fly into Sarasota-Bradenton (SRQ) or Tampa (TPA, ~an hour north).
The ghosts are a northward drive
Tiki Gardens (Indian Shores) and the Hawaiian Village site (Tampa) are up toward Tampa Bay, an hour-plus each. Build a day around them if you're a Dead Reckoning pilgrim — and pair with the Bahi Hut for a bookend of living-and-lost.
