Tiki in the snow belt. Mai Tai Mayhem takes over a vintage Holiday Inn Holidome — the indoor-pool-under-a-glass-atrium kind — in Richfield, splitting the difference between Cleveland and Akron in early March, when a tropical weekend indoors is exactly what northeast Ohio needs. It's run by the Tiki Ohio Ohana out of Tiki Underground, the region's serious tiki room (about 20 minutes south). The chart pairs the living Ohio scene — Tiki Underground and Cleveland's Porco Lounge — with the state's outsized Polynesian ghosts, led by the Kahiki, the A-frame cathedral of American tiki.

The Northeast Ohio Crawl

Ohio's serious tiki, an easy drive apart. Tiki Underground in Cuyahoga Falls is the event's mothership and about 20 minutes south of the host hotel; Porco Lounge, up in Cleveland, has carried the city's exotic-bar torch since 2013. Two rooms, one rum-deep region.

The Dead Reckoning Run

Ohio held more than its share of Polynesian palaces. Cleveland's Kon-Tiki drew 2,000 people on opening day in 1961; Columbus's Kahiki was the most elaborate tiki restaurant America ever built, and the Grass Skirt kept the flame into the 2010s. A pilgrimage that spans the state — pair it with a Columbus overnight.

Know Before You Go

First-timer intel
The bar isn't the venue
Tiki Underground — the host bar — is in Cuyahoga Falls, about 20 minutes south of the Richfield host hotel. The weekend itself happens at the Holidome; plan a separate trip if you want to drink at the mothership.
It's an Ohio March
Early March in northeast Ohio means cold, gray, possibly snow. The saving grace is that a Holidome is a sealed tropical terrarium — you may not need to go outside all weekend. Pack for the drive in, not the event.
21+, and it's a hotel takeover
Mai Tai Mayhem is a private, 21+ event — the room crawls, marketplace, and tastings are all inside the hotel. Book a room in the block to be in the thick of it.
The ghosts are a road trip
The Kahiki and Grass Skirt are in Columbus, ~2 hours south — a real day trip, not a walk. Worth building an extra day around if you're a Dead Reckoning pilgrim.

Survival Guide

Provisions & resupply
Liquor
Giant Eagle (Richfield) — Ohio sells full-strength spirits only at licensed agencies — this Giant Eagle is the closest, about 1.5 mi from the Holidome, and doubles as your beer/wine/mixer/ice run.
Daily ~7am–11pm (Ohio OHLQ spirits agency inside)Map ↗
Ice
Giant Eagle (Richfield) — bagged ice — Grab bagged ice on the same stop. Richfield is an exurb, so confirm a 24-hour gas station for late ice runs on the ground.

Late-Night Food
Montrose / Fairlawn late-night cluster — Richfield goes quiet after midnight. The closest reliable late food sits about 10–12 minutes south down I-77 in Akron's Montrose/Fairlawn area. Confirm a specific spot's hours before you count on it.
